Ad creatives, lead forms and ad listings through MCP

Connect Claude, Codex or Cursor to MyChatBot to generate ad creatives, send Meta lead-form leads to a sales assistant and list your ad accounts, ads and campaigns. The docs describe no campaign management or media buying.

What you can do

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard way for an AI assistant such as Claude or Codex to use another product’s tools. MyChatBot exposes its tools as MCP servers, called surfaces. For advertising, four jobs are documented, and they are narrower than a full ad manager.

  • Generate ad creatives. The content area of the UGC surface generates media and text-to-speech, billed to your account balance. The ready-made ad formats are documented for the Content Factory agent in the app, and the docs do not list them as MCP tools. See MCP for content.
  • Route Meta lead-form leads. Sales-Management tools list your Meta Lead Gen forms, diagnose why leads reach nobody and map a form to an assistant. See MCP for sales.
  • Look at your ads. The ads area of the UGC surface lists ad accounts, ads and campaigns. It needs the Scale plan or higher, and the docs do not say which fields come back.
  • Trace a lead to its ad. In the app, the client card can show the ad title, ad ID and UTM values when the lead carries them. Over MCP, export_clients can add ad_id, ad_post_id and ad_title columns; the docs do not list UTM values as export columns.

Example requests

Examples of wording you could type, not a script. The assistant picks the tools, and your client asks for your review before write tools or billed previews run.

  • List the ad accounts, ads and campaigns on my account. Uses the ads area of the UGC surface.
  • Show my Meta lead forms with lead counts, and why any mapped form’s leads are not reaching anyone. Uses list_lead_forms and get_lead_forms_automation.
  • Map the spring promo form to my sales assistant, and show me the preview before you apply anything. Uses set_lead_form_mapping without confirm: true, which applies nothing.
  • Export my clients with the ad title and ad ID columns. Uses export_clients.
  • Generate a square product image for a Meta ad, and ask me before anything that costs money. Uses the content area of the UGC surface.

How it works

  1. Connect Claude or Codex. Lead-form tools come from the Sales-Management surface: Agents → Connectors, the Automations area, Connect AI tools. Ads and creatives come from the UGC surface, with a key created under Agents → Tasks → Connect Claude or Codex. Setup is on the MCP overview.
  2. Connect Meta in the app. A person does this, not the assistant. Connect the Facebook page that owns the forms under Automations → Lead Forms (an OAuth step), then connect the Meta ad account that owns the forms in the Ads Manager of the content studio at ugc.mychatbot.app.
  3. List. list_lead_forms returns forms with ID, name, status, lead count and mapping.
  4. Inspect. get_lead_forms_automation returns the per-form setup and a diagnosis of why leads reach nobody.
  5. Preview. set_lead_form_mapping without confirm: true returns a before and after view and applies nothing. You choose the assistant, the mode and the channels.
  6. Confirm. Repeat the call with confirm: true. remove_lead_form_mapping works the same way, and leads are still captured into Contacts.
  7. Test. Submit a test lead with Meta’s Lead Ads testing tool and check it in Contacts.

Leads are always saved to Contacts. In capture-only mode the assistant sends nothing; in capture-and-outreach mode it sends the first message, and some channels deliver only where the person already has a chat. Details are in the docs on Automations.

Staying in control

  • Reading is separate from writing. Listing forms, diagnosing and listing ads change nothing; write tools and billed routine previews need explicit review in your client.
  • Lead-form changes preview first. Nothing applies until confirm: true, and if the social service that verifies the form is unreachable, set_lead_form_mapping errors and nothing changes. In outreach mode a mapped form means real messages to real people, so read the preview.
  • No documented tool spends an ad budget. The docs describe no tool that buys media or spends an ad budget. They also do not list the tools of the ads area, so your client shows what it offers when it connects.
  • Generation is billed. Content generation bills your account balance. The app’s Content Factory states a job’s price before or as it runs. The docs describe no price quote for UGC tool calls, so ask Claude or Codex to state the cost and wait for your yes. In the app’s Content Factory, the documented typical costs are about $0.05 for a draft photo and about $1.25 for an 8-second video ad; the docs do not say these figures apply to MCP generation.
  • Automation runs unattended. Schedules and triggers created over the Agents surface start disabled and are enabled as a separate step. A routine, a multi-step workflow stored in MyChatBot, runs without an approval pause once it has started.
  • Keys are credentials. Keep them in the header only, out of chats and screenshots, and connect one area at a time.

What is not covered

MyChatBot MCP is not an ad manager. The docs do not describe the following, so this page does not claim it.

  • Campaign operations. Creating, editing, pausing or deleting campaigns, ad sets or ads. The documented verbs for ads are list, inspect and read.
  • Money and targeting. Budgets, bids, spend caps, custom audiences, lookalikes and retargeting. An audience in the Sales-Management surface means a segment of your own clients.
  • Media buying. Uploading a generated creative into an ad account or attaching it to an ad.
  • Meta setup. Creating a Lead Gen form, since MCP only routes existing ones, and connecting your Facebook page or ad account.
  • Other networks. The docs describe Meta only and publish no network list for the ads area, so check in the app.
  • Conversion feedback. A pixel, the Conversions API, or sending lead quality or sales back to a platform.
  • Performance numbers. The docs do not say the ads area returns spend, clicks or cost per lead. The Campaign ROI use case in Sales analytics compares total sale with total cost, and total cost is billable AI messages times your per-message price, not ad spend.
  • Tool names. None are documented for the UGC surface; your client lists them when it connects.

The surface is described in MCP & connectors.

Frequently asked questions

Can MCP create, edit or pause my ad campaigns?

Not as far as the docs describe. They describe only listing ad accounts, ads and campaigns through the UGC surface, plus generating creatives and routing Meta lead forms. Creating, editing, pausing or deleting campaigns and ads is not described, so this page does not claim it. Keep managing campaigns where you manage them today.

Can it set budgets or bids?

Not as documented. Budgets, bids, spend caps and audiences are not described anywhere in the docs, and no documented tool buys media or spends an ad budget. Generating creatives is billed to your account balance; the docs describe no link between that balance and an ad budget.

Which ad networks does it work with?

The docs describe Meta only: Meta Lead Gen forms and a connected Meta ad account. They do not publish a list of networks for the ads area and describe no Google Ads, TikTok Ads or LinkedIn Ads functionality. Check in the app before you plan around another network.

How do leads from my ad forms reach my sales assistant?

You connect your Facebook page in the app (listing forms also needs the Meta Ads add-on and your Meta ad account connected in the Ads Manager), then map each Lead Gen form to an assistant, either in Automations → Lead Forms or through set_lead_form_mapping, which previews first and applies only on confirm. Every submission is saved to Contacts. In capture-and-outreach mode the assistant sends the first message; in capture-only mode it sends nothing.

Which plan do I need?

It depends on the part. Listing ad accounts, ads and campaigns needs the Scale plan or higher. Listing lead forms needs the Meta Ads add-on, which the docs describe as the Ads Manager capability and say comes with Multipro and Corporate or with the UGC Scale plan and higher. Mapping a form needs a plan that includes social account connections, while removing a mapping works on any plan. Generating media needs a positive balance and no particular plan. Check the exact entitlement of your plan in the account before you build on it.
